We offer beginner and advanced baton twirling classes.  The beginner class is an introductory class where students learn baton terminology and basic twirl skills while developing hand-eye coordination and wrist flexibility.  Basic dance moves are introduced with emphasis on proper form and hand placement. Students will also learn basic twirl combinations as well as parade routines.  In the advanced class, skills learned in 'Beginner Baton' are built upon.  Hand twirls, rolls and tosses are explored more deeply.  A variety of catches and releases are introduced. Twirl combinations as well as parade routines are also learned. Advanced baton participants must have attended at least two baton sessions with GC Spirit. Baton twirling is a unique sport in that in order to perform at the highest level baton twirlers must be able to create a demonstration of strength, flexibility, physical fitness and harmony in coordination with the twirling of their baton.
SpiritFIT: (Middle School/High School/Game Team Members 4th & 5th grade)
The goal of this clinic is to build core strength, increase flexibility, tone, strengthen large muscle groups and increase cardio stamina, all of which are necessary to meet the high demands of cheerleading and kickline routines. This new program is designed to provide the foundation necessary for athletes to develop the required fitness level needed in high school sports and educate participants in proper fitness technique.  This will all be done with the support of certified guest trainers in the areas of yoga, cross fit and pilates and with the additional support of varsity team members who will teach fitness through cheer and kickline routines.  We welcome current HS team members to practice with us in addition to middle school students and Spirit Game Team members in 4th grade and up.
